Rachel Nurse-Baker

Rachel Nurse-Baker is the co-founder of Power in Wellness Health Consultants, an emerging public health consulting organization building communities through relationships. As a registered nurse for over 10 years, Rachel found her passion for public health and serving her community through leadership opportunities with organizations such as YWCHAC and Advocates for Youths as a nursing student at Hunter College.

Throughout her nursing career, Rachel had the opportunities to work with powerhouse organizations such as Bellevue Hospital, NYP-Brooklyn Methodist, One Medical Primary Care Group, and the CDC Foundation. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Hunter College and graduating with honors, Rachel went on to pursue her Master’s in Public Health in 2018. After graduating in 2020, Rachel used her Master’s degree to champion as a clinical leader in the primary care discipline, leading a national practice in the development of policy and practices required to successfully navigate COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. This experience solidified Rachel’s understanding of the importance of partnership and its effect on diverse communities, pushing her to establish Power in Wellness Health Consultants with her co-founder. Rachel’s desire to understand the development and practice of educational public health programs drove her to continue her education and obtain a doctorate in Public Health Education.

As a mom of two, wife, student, mentor, and Army Officer, Rachel understands the many components of life that affect a person’s health and wealth and through her organization intends to build relationships that will support positive health and growth in diverse communities.  Being the recipient of awards such as the 2017 ANA Leader Award solidifies that Rachel’s skills are recognized by national organizations and she uses these skills to advance the work of community organizations such as MVP Lifeguards and KAVI.
